What is MUMPO?

• Metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Charlotte urbanized area
• MPOs are required by federal law in areas with an urbanized population greater than 50,000
• MPOs ensure that transportation expenditures are based on a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive (3-C) planning process
• Federal transportation funding is channeled through MUMPO
