Advertising in the media can be a high-end expense, especially if you are still in the growth phase of your business. Radio and TV spots, magazine ads, commercial marketing can all be quite costly. The question becomes how to increase your exposure and demand for a fraction of the typical cost. It is possible – and quite simple once you have the secrets: there exist several opportunities for FREE publicity if you are willing to write, network, and – yes – speak. The ten tips below will show you how to increase your bottom line without breaking your budget. First, choose a ‘gotcha’ topic related to your industry. For example, if you are a diversity trainer and offer seminars to that regard, find a current HOT topic and center your article or interview around it. What is one thing that upsets speakers the most? One would be not finding enough pay based speaking engagements. The frustration builds, you become discouraged and it gets to the point where you want to give up and go back to your old full time job. This can be quite frustrating and I totally understand because today many associations and organizations want their speakers to come in and speak for free, they feel their compensation of exposure is enough, I don’t agree but can’t change that because speakers continue to do them and the associations and organizations will continue not to pay. So, we must learn to leverage the free engagements that you do while building a stronger platform and seeking out the fee based events. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of fee based engagements out there but we all know they are precious gems.

Summer is a great time to line up fall speaking gigs.

Public speaking is a great way to generate new business. However, it’s not a time for a sales pitch. If you’re able to share your inside secrets about your expertise in an organized fashion, with a confident and vibrant tone, you’ll indirectly sell yourself and your products.

WHO TO PITCH
Summer is a great time to pitch your speaking services to professional organizations that begin their new membership calendar year or “season” in September. Keep in mind most professional organizations hold fewer meetings in the summer, since members are off gallivanting in the sunshine. However, organizations also survey their members during the summer about educational topics they’d like to hear about come the fall.

Are you a real estate agent interested in making an additional $24,000 or more over the next 12 months? How about making an additional $48,000 in year two?

You can, and conducting workshops on real estate investing is a smart way to do it. In fact, it might be just the ticket.

I conducted my first real estate investing workshops about a year ago. I am now working with three investors I met at those workshops. So far, I have earned $14,700 from buyer-side commissions from these three investors. In addition, I’ve received four listings from these investors: One lot listed for $155,000 (sold), one townhome listed for $180,000, and two single-family homes listed for $307,000 and $315,000.

So you’ve decided that getting your name out there is going to be one of your major goals for the New Year. But how do you do that on a limited budget?

That’s where publicity comes in. And you can do it. It just takes time – and a plan. Here are the seven basic steps to creating a plan:

1) Decide who your target market(s) is. There may be more than one, but your target market is not everyone. A good way to find out is look at who currently buys your product or service and create a profile of them.

One of the best ways to build your business is to hold workshops and seminars. There are two primary benefits. First, you position yourself as an expert in your field. You’re the one in front of the room and people attending these events automatically give a certain amount of credibility to the person putting on the class. Second, you can make money in the process. This article will look at three ways you can cash in on workshops and seminars.

The first and most obvious way to make money doing workshops and seminars is to charge a registration fee. In many cases, if you’re doing the seminar through an Adult Education program, you’ll only get a certain percentage of the registration dues. The average is 50% but there are other programs that pay their instructors an hourly wage and in those cases, you won’t benefit at all from a good turnout.

Speaking in public is considered number one fear for many adults. People get tensed and try to avoid such occasions where they may have to do a public speech. It was not different for me until I learned public speaking skill by attending workshops and seminars by many well known speakers. Public speaking is a skill which can be learnt. Most people who give speeches or presentations confidently have learnt the skill.

What I learned from all training programs is, with some tips and practice; this skill can be mastered by any one. All that you need to do to be an excellent speaker is P.R.E.P.A.R.E yourself. In detail you have to do your Preparation, Rehearse, Entry, Posture, Audience, Relax and Ending well.
